health kicking in

Yippee! I have a new obsession- not being debauched.

Alright, not the gym or anything, but as I'm getting well into the late 30s I need to slow down the spreading flab and the bad habits...starting with booze and ciggies...I am on a one-month no drinking, no smoking binge. I did intend to do it before this but cousins from overseas just left and it was one entire week of boozy picnics and the odd cocktail thingie...or just downright nice food and really nice wine.

I don't know what's got into me but I'm signing myself up for a month of pureness.

  2. Blimey, best of luck! It can be done. I have been off the ciggies for ten years now, it wasn't easy but most things are possible if you put your mind to it. I find alcohol quite easy to resist (although you wouldn't have thought that if you'd seen me knocking back the gin last night!), it's food that is my downfall! Nice tasty food. But hey, we live in France - and guess what we're surrounded by? Happy Easter - does the new regime kick in before or after the Easter eggs? You know you can send any surplus in my direction!

  3. A month of pureness. I'd love to subscribe to that, but I'm afraid there's no chance I'd make it.

All the very best to you though!

  4. Ms Moon- I will...I'll think of you!

Mya- off the ciggies is no mean feat...I manage to resist them, sort of, it's the luscious red wine and roast chickens I can't say no to.

Nigel- Yeah to be honest I don't think Ill make it either, but I might get a couple of weeks out of it...

  5. Good luck screamish! Don't forget the patches or gum (cold turkey is something no-one has to put up with anymore) - but get the dose right or you might start passing out from excessive nicotine absorbtion - haha.

  6. So brave! I'm trying to eat well, but I'm not sure I could lay off the alcohol just now. Go you!
